What began in 2020 as a truly ambitious project — replacing 70 km of Teréga’s gas transmission network — has now reached a defining moment: every trenchless crossing is complete.
Over time, OPTIMUM moved from site analysis, feasibility studies and design engineering for over 50 crossings to onsite support for all the complex crossings. Sixteen of these were built last year; the final six have now been completed, including :
- A 372 m HDD crossing under the A68 motorway slip road and a nearby river. The unstable surface ground required a 31-metre-long entry casing as well as a drilling depth down 24 metres – HDD by Coquart, casing by Jamme Kléber.
- A 184 m HDD crossing under regional railway tracks – HDD by Gendry, casing by Jamme Kléber
- Two auger boring crossings (1 x 78 m + 1 x 66 m) under the A68 motorway – drilled by Gendry – and a further 46 m bore under railway tracks, drilled by Jamme Kleber
Despite the scale and technical challenges, every crossing was executed smoothly. Commissioning is now just weeks away.
Large scale trenchless projects like this one remind us of a simple truth: when preparation is solid and collaboration strong, execution becomes seamless.
