{"id":9106,"date":"2025-12-18T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.optimum-te.com\/?p=9106"},"modified":"2025-12-24T14:20:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-24T13:20:17","slug":"two-hdds-multiple-obstacles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.optimum-te.com\/en\/electricity-en\/two-hdds-multiple-obstacles\/","title":{"rendered":"One entry pit, two S-shaped HDDs, a multitude of obstacles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trenchless works are now complete on another key RTE project: a network extension to supply France\u2019s first supercomputer hosting centre, created to meet the rising demands of businesses in big data, artificial intelligence, and digital simulation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Located just south of Paris, the two HDDs shared a single entry point, to limit the footprint in an urban area :<\/p>\n<p><strong>A 202 m s-shaped HDD drilled eastwards<\/strong>\u00a0using Paratrak steering to pass 16 metres under a riverside park, a bridge, 2 streams, and around bridge foundations<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Prepared and supervised from design to delivery by OPTIMUM engineers : G1 and G2 PRO feasibility studies, G4 works supervision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>A 343 m s-shaped HDD drilled westwards<\/strong>\u00a0threading beneath a busy dual carriageway and a road bridge, with the drill path designed to remain within a narrow strip of public ground<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>An unforeseen network was found onsite, quickly turning an open-trench project into a trenchless one. With no time to conduct a detailed feasibility study, OPTIMUM\u2019s engineers provided valuable assistance to RTE during the HDD operations and advised the drilling contractor on the necessary geotechnical adaptations in real-time, until works completion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Key challenges onsite included :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Complex steering and drill paths<\/li>\n<li>Limited surface access<\/li>\n<li>Drilling fluid management in clayey ground conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both HDDs are now complete: the drilling schedule was respected, and cable laying went ahead on time.
